What to do next depends on whether you've lost your own pet or found one that isn't yours. Here's where to go for each.

Search & Report with Petco Love Lost

Petco Love Lost uses photo-matching technology to help reunite lost pets with their families across a nationwide network of shelters, including ours.

  • Report your pet as lost so shelters in the network are alerted
  • Search photos of animals currently in our care
  • Check back often — new matches are added as animals come in

I Found a Stray Animal

Contact Local Animal Control

In New York State, found animals are handled by local animal control officers (ACOs) — we're not permitted to take in a found animal directly unless it comes to us through an ACO.

  • Contact the animal control officer for the town where you found the animal
  • Every town has a different ACO, so check that town's website for contact info
  • They can help reunite the animal with its owner or take next steps
